Ok. So I got LIAP first day out. Is the sound mix weird? I can barely make out the lyrics. Maybe it was my computer. Dave's voice seemed trapped way behind music. Please advise. I will purchase again if it didn't work well the first day on I-Tunes. Can't wait for J.B. in August. Long live Rock N #@$ Roll.
Re: Sound Mix
That's the production alright.
Rumor is they convinced a team of masons on horseback transport an old civil war submarine onto the farm for recording.

Re: Sound Mix
Yeah, the lead vocals are a bit low in the mix at times...some songs are way worse than others though. Tramp Art is particularly odd, with the vocals almost being indiscernible.
Re: Sound Mix
The difference in the sound quality might depend on whether the particular song was recorded and/or mixed at 16 Ton or the farmhouse.
Some sound like pro recordings while alot of the others come accross as really demo-y. Great songs, though.
Maybe should have let Owen Morris do the mix?

Re: Sound Mix
Bring back FOWTFNG and Serge! My jury on Marah 2010 is still out. I think they peaked with AoD and will forever curse the Bloodline Bros. F em.
Re: Sound Mix
Does every Marah album have castanets?

Sounds about right 16 ton or Farmhouse....That said it just seems to flow with a certain folky-rock sound from beginning to the end...The sound captures a real down-home essence of years gone by...As for the comment about the band reaching it's peak after AOD...I think this release proves that their on the cusp of something big in the near future....Let's face it the RnR Queen Christine is in full bloom vocally & artistically on "Life Is A Problem", and with the rumored re-emergence of The Serge in the near future...All I can see is Rainbows, Blue Sky, and Bright Lights straight AHEAD!!!!!
Re: Sound Mix
Hold the presses! Serge might be coming back? Just got goosebumps! Wow. Is there a chance he will be in Philly for the J Brendas show? Viva Marah! As for the new lineup, I agree that C Smith is a very cool addition. So let' see what happens. They have been on the brink so many times...

Near future? Well not that near my friend, but sometime down the line I can see it happening...He did show up at the July 4th gig....and from what people were saying he sure got his mojo workin'....

You have to listen to the whole record twelve times. On the thirteenth spin, it all comes into focus ... beautifully.
